Central Mass Tree carries debarked firewood – a great value for you because you get more heating BTUs.

How it begins: Firewood productions begins with the raw wood from a private woodlot or a logging site with processed logs delivered to the Central Mass Tree site.

The process: Special equipment is used to remove the bark and a thin lawyer of wood

The benefits include:

Less debris

More wood per cord (remove the bark and there’s room for more wood)

Less places for bugs to hide

Faster Drying

Cleaner Burning

Give Debarked firewood from Central Mass Tree a try. You won’t be disappointed! Call (978) 423-2889

Visual assessment of timber value to determine if it is cost effective for the land owner to go forward with the project.

Timber cruise to determine the stumpage volume and value of the timber to be harvested.

Filing of cutting plan with the DCR (Department of Conservation and Recreation), notification of all abutting land owners and local conservation committee(s), and wait for approval. Note: All timber harvesting activities in the state of Massachusetts are overseen by the DCR and are frequently visited by State of Massachusetts service foresters during the job.

The Central Mass Difference
is the Forest Friendly Method

We take the time to understand your specific needs and provide you with professional and quality service, regardless of the size, vegetation, or location of your site. Our forest-friendly harvesting method utilizes the whole tree as well as all cut and chip trees to better the stand of timber for the next harvesting. All material removed is chipped and/or utilized to improve the health, safety, and overall appearance of the property. This leaves the forest bed ready to yield new seedling instead of taking 4 to 10 years to rot-erode the “slash” from a conventional logging operation.

We meet all requirements for Chapter 61 Plans, Stewardship, Forest and any TSI (Timber Stand Improvement) work

For a free timber cruise or to consult about existing plans or TSI work, please give us a call at (978) 423-2889 or (978) 874-1509

The Story of Great Firewood
When Central Mass Tree Inc. got into the firewood business, we wanted to be known for great firewood – quality firewood from harvested trees, not salvaged trees, not tree removal trees, not yard trees.
Firewood: There is a difference…
Our wood is made from first cut selected harvested firewood. It is straight grained and stacks up tighter. You get more wood per cord with less air space. Our premier Massachusetts seasoned firewood sits cut and split on pavement at our facility for 14 months in a teepee configuration, thus lowering the moisture content and giving you more BTUs (more heat) out of the wood. Thus our firewood is an overall BETTER VALUE!
